Established in 1820 and taking its water from the towns supply, Loch Lee. The distillery had the reputation of uncompromising detail to quality. The barley harvested from the local fields nearby was regarded as some of the finest in Scotland. The distillery closed for good in 1983 and is now a supermarket.
